No One Saw...
/No One Saw the Signs
Fifty years ago, many in the general public were not aware of suicide prevention. Unfortunately, no one was aware that this lovely lady was suffering from depression and planned to take her own life.
————
She seemed to always have a smile.
Weekly, the ladies got together for lunch.
The entire family of four went to church.
After school one day, her youngest found her.
She was kneeling at the open oven.
He tore her away and got her outside.
The next day, her husband sought help.
With counseling, she rebounded and things were “fine”.
A week later, Sam found her at the oven again.
The experts told them that she could not be alone.
They found a friend to check in with her.
The boys had school and her husband had work.
In a month, she was dead.
While cooking, her clothes lit on fire.
She ran outside for the garden hose to no avail.
The husband and sons admitted that family conversations were few.
She spent most of her life isolated because the boys were busy.
Toward the end, she needed constant supervision and support.
