New Beginnings Haunt Us

"New Beginnings Haunt Us" is a poem about how we make new year resolutions and fail.  

We need to wait and tackle them one by one when the time seems right.

Each year when the clock strikes midnight

we vow to change

promising to do better 

by quitting habits, we deem as bad.

Yet we steer off course 

leaving our plans

stranded in the dust

haunting us throughout the year.

Why don’t we give ourselves a break 

and tackle these new beginnings 

one by one

when the moment seems right.

There ’s no need

for extra pressure 

as we face a brand-new year

and the challenges that come with it.
