Main Street

I walk aimlessly down Main Street

Just to see how people live

In this unexcited morning

At a corner of this quiet city

A man in suit holding a briefcase

Looking straight walking in a hurry

Is he late for work

Or pressured by an important duty

Two young people hand in hand

Engaging in their own conversation

Are they a couple deeply in love

Or they just met serendipitously

A small group of uniformed students

Laughing playing carefreely

Do they skip their class

Or their school is dismissed early

A hollow-eyed man sitting against a pillar

Oblivious to his surroundings

Is he lost and has given up

Or he is just having a break from his life

And I am an onlooker

Trying to picture their lives

With my imagination

So as to weave their stories into my writing
