Lost In Memories

Damp, dismal night

Ordinary street

Elderly man dozes

Under worn sheets

Cold seeps through

Rotting window frames

Inner child wakes

Intent on games

Mischievous smile

Close cropped hair

Runs merrily down

Wooden stairs

Slides on the bannister

Glee in his eyes

Calls out to his siblings

Joyful cries

Momentarily forgets

Family long gone

One after another

Left him all alone

In this crumbling pile

Of timber, stone

Lost in memories

Of a once vibrant home
