Losing Sanity
/"Losing Sanity" is a poem I wrote after the U.S Marshall’s fugitive task force surrounded the place next door. It is about hiding away in the house with the blinds closed. The silence drives her stark mad without the sound of her furry friends to keep her company. She walks around with the trigger cocked waiting to take her sanity back.
————
It’s a lonely road
inside this cold house of paradise
with the blinds closed like Fort Knox
hiding away from the hoodlums
lingering outside the windows.
No pitter patter of furry paws
scurrying across the floor,
no sunshine dancing across the walls,
no voices to stop the silence
from creaking in her soul.
It haunts her like shards of glass,
creating thoughts of a madwoman
with a weary spirit
planning her revenge.
Walking with a loaded magazine, the trigger cocked,
stark naked in her secluded mansion
waiting for that moment
when she can take her sanity back.
