Lives Changed

Generational trauma can be devastating. However, my mother rose above her circumstances and encouraged me to do the same. We both became leaders and certainly did thrive and not succumb to intimidation.

My life lacked peace, just tumult.

A life filled with fear was the result.

My mom’s reassurance was unsurpassed.

She comforted me when I was downcast.

Mom started her life outcast.

Mom faced bullying and was harassed.

She told me her life was difficult.

She began each day facing an insult.

Her family helped her to flourish and lead.

Her promptings pushed me to succeed.

I cherished our hours of sharing tales.

I fathom that makes us fierce females.

My family gave me skills I could utilize.

My life prospered and I certainly did thrive.
