Little White Lies
/“Little White Lies" is a poem about how someone speaks bits and pieces of honesty instead of telling you the whole truth. He fears losing you, so he hides the simple truth, hoping you never find out.
————
Untruths,
those little white lies
people don’t think hurt,
but shatter the heart into tiny pieces.
What you don’t know won’t hurt you
until it surfaces to the table,
leaving you weak in the knees,
bending over clasping your chest
in utter disbelief.
Bits and pieces of honesty linger in spoken words,
as the whole truth is hidden from your innocent ears,
when one is afraid of losing you
but doesn’t do what it takes to keep you.
