Just a Joy

When things are put into perspective

————

I have a smiling clown on my clock face. I don’t know why. I’ve had it for years.

The same beeping alarm too.

It goes off.

Time: 07.48

Another day. Just a joy.

Out of the warm bed and across the bedroom floor. I open the curtains to see that there’s grey cloud outside. And the rain is actually bouncing off the street below. I stretch and yawn.

Then I remember, and I smile to myself.

Yesterday, I had the follow-up scan.

I take another look at the clock.

Time: 07.49

Another day. Just a joy.
