Inevitability

Separation constantly occurs in our life

Each individual has a unique path

Yet destiny shuffles us around,

Bringing people together

Then separating them

By circumstance or by death

We learn to deal with separation

From a very young age,

A baby when being separated

From its parents can be

The first traumatic parting

Growing up we learn to accept separations

Though with a sense of isolation and sadness

But realize it is an inevitable event

At the end we all have to depart

From this world,

It is always a bleak thought

When we think of our own final departure

And try to be prepared

For this unknown finality

The ancient Chinese said it well

“There is no endless feast”

At the end of a party

We all have to leave
