Impression of Sunrise

Once again nature untiringly

Presents sunrise

Its spectacular beauty never

Turns wearisome to viewers

First fading of flickers from enfeebled stars

Heralds time for the night to retire

Looming dark clouds in the east

Quietly await the arrival of the sun

And a subtle slackening of duskiness in the sky

Hints the show is going to get a daring start

This shift from the dying of the night

To the rising of a new day is full of amazement

As long as clouds in the low atmosphere

Are not dense enough to block sunrays

With refraction and scattering of lights

From the sun still below the horizon

The clouds and the sky start to exhibit

Wide variations of shades and hues

Drifting clouds are celestial dancers

Magically changing their colors from

Purple blue red orange to yellow

In unpredictable ways

They stately perform a colossal ceremony

In welcoming the arrival of the sun

The immediacy and convolution of this show

Challenges spectators’ eyes

When the sun finally ascends above the horizon

Its golden ball soon turns into an illuminating white globe

Eventually its blinding brightness thwarts viewers’ gazes

And whitens all clouds and the sky

So the show ends

The sun goes on to nurture the earth

As always since its birth

Another day for the earthbound lives begins
