On short, spiky hair

Dyed vibrant purple

Did it as a dare

Indulges recent passion

For fun, adventure

Learned not to leave

Fulfillable dreams for later

Experienced life's fragility 

At first hand

Fear, anger, frustration,

Uncertainty in command

Grateful to find herself

In remission

Each additional moment

Worthy of celebration
