From My Window

High up in the apartment building

I see everything in miniature

Down on the streets

The outside world seems faraway

But every day from 

The little screen of my television

Horrifying scenes like

Looting killing and bombing

Floods fire and earthquakes

Jump out and invade my mind

My little world for now

At least is safe and cozy

And I hope it stays this way 

Regardless of the world’s disasters

But in reality

I still need to leave my home

to get connected with society

If a catastrophe occurs near by

How can I prevent it from 

Coming my way

Where can I get a guarantee
