Freedom and Lockdown

On the break of dawn I still lie on my bed

Listening to the chirping birds as the

Morn breaks the silence

After listening to a loudspeaker’s voice from a distant mosque

I count footsteps of my father

Walking inside his room, due to lockdown

Lockdown has come inside our house

It took away the freedom from our lawn

It made my father walk inside his room

Those steps I hear

Those steps I count

The sound I hear wakes me up

The blue azure of the morning sky opens

In my window and I look out.
