Fleeting Summer

Hey, fleeting summer

I am sad you are gone so soon

With the sandy beaches deserted,

Seagulls are hovering around to be fed

Crisscrossing each other’s way

They cry with shrills bemoaning the loss of lively crowds

Children’s sandy castles have crumbled

Old little dugouts have been filled

A kind of morbid silence has ruled the once warm shores

The music of pebbles pushed by waves goes unheard

None is there to ride the back of the curved tides

What remains is nostalgia

Hey, fleeting summer,

A painful reminder of fleeting human life

If I survive the icy cold of this winter, I will come to hug your warmth.
