Different But Devoted

We are indeed opposites. However, over fifty years together, we remain devoted to each other.

The old saying is that “opposites attract”. 

If you saw us, you’d say that’s true. 

He’s tall; it looks like my height was hijacked. 

My eyes are bluish-gray and his are soft blue. 

Athletics was his passion; I preferred a theater act. 

Due to distance and devotions, our dating hit a snafu. 

The picture he kept in his locker made an impact. 

I moved on, but he had a different point-of-view. 

When college ended, our new lives were jam-packed.

But through it all, he loved me through and through.

This big, strong man’s tenderness was indeed a class act. 

I couldn’t believe that little me would finally say “I do”. 

Over fifty years together and we were never side-tracked. 

The tiny thespian and the towering track star remain true.
