Cowgirl

It's a joy to ride horses and be a real Western Cowgirl.

————

For most of my life, I lived in the Midwest.

Then the family was transported to the Northwest.

After a few lovely years, we moved to the Southwest.

I was overjoyed to finally be living in the West.

Becoming a real cowgirl was the best.

Riding spirited horses daily put my skills to the test.

I worked hard and hardly ever took a rest.

No one minded that my countenance was a mess.

I was born to be outside where the air is pure.

Riding my mare through the woods is second nature.

Through heat and cold I’ll persevere and endure.

I may be young but as a Western Cowgirl, I’m mature.

When I’m sad, riding and roping are the cure.

Watching westerns was indeed the lure.

My children will all learn to ride, that’s for sure.

I hope that the Western Spirit is always in my future.
