Christmas Wishes

When Christmas Eve's clock turns to midnight Princess Lida and Becky Sue dream of a life with Paulie being their husband.

With the hour turning midnight and Christmas Eve transitioning to day Princess Lida sat on her perch pondering the future.

“Together it’s possible,” she said seeing a bright star in the sky, “we could rule both these lands and bring peace to whatever is bothering the zebra.”

Long before Princess Lida came to life Paulie’s lineage dealt with a great feud splintering the family tree and barn. To keep the peace a zebra was recruited and given a specific stall right in the stable’s middle. Apparently, Princess Lida resides on a non-blood related branch allowing falling in love with Paulie.

“If only he accepts the fact, he was royal and not only an aristocrat,” mumbled the future leader, “we would be the center of attention, attending balls and functions.”

For miles cloudless skies challenged Princess Lida’s imagination, standing up, she felt the birth rite power flow through her body. “No enemy army would even think about attacking our indestructible region.”

Going back inside Princess Lida laid down enjoying the comfortable mattress, shutting her eyes, “But what do we do about Becky Sue, ah yes, maybe a nice job answering phones.”

Twelve times the cuckoo emerged from the wooden clock box stimulating Becky Sue to smile, “It’s Christmas,” she whispered staring into the twinkling lights. When the angel blinked back, a thought entered the youngsters mind, “Together it’s possible, Paulie proposing marriage.”

Laughing at the aristocratic element and the fantasy a villager like Becky Sue achieving the high-level social status opportunity she planned, “strolling through the street with enormous community support knowing Paulie is in charge, creating a security blanket atmosphere, where a stranger not even Princess Lida could penetrate.”

Chuckling about the privileged Princess another devious notion surfaced, “yes, Sunday mornings Paulie and I, as husband and wife will enjoy reading the newspaper headlines and all Princess Lida’s antics as an old maiden.”

Seeing the zebra stick his nose out Poppa exclaimed feeling frustrated, “what are you looking at? Momma is enjoying her surprise present right now,” the zebra retreated hearing a valid reason, “Paulie I think if you put together these two parts it's possible the generator is going to work.”

Listening Paulie followed directions and minutes later Momma felt the warming central heat underneath the covers appreciating the true love outside braving the cold.
