Castle Of Ice

I built a castle of ice, thinking the walls would suffice.

Rock by rock I layered, watching my home come to life with a prayer.

But the storm outside was so unfair.

The damage done could not be repaired.

I filled the holes with my bare fingers,

but the walls still wouldn't linger.

Instead I stood there naked in the cold,

frozen pieces piercing through my soul.

I wondered if 'd ever find warmth

or if I was forever frozen in the distance.

A queen of ice and snow

picking up the fragments of my heart in the cold.
