Born to Wander

Although I have visited large cities, I have always enjoyed wandering in the outdoors either in the suburbs or the country. When I'm close to death, don't shut me away. Let me wander into the forest to die.

Once a year, we visited the business district in the big city.

We saw expensive goods not the dirty and gritty.

Our parents sheltered us from the intense poverty.

This annual visit made me feel uncomfortable.

The scarceness I saw on the drive was disagreeable.

Get me back to suburbia where life was peaceable.

In reality, I really wanted to live in a rural setting.

The countryside called to me; it was calming.

I longed to wander in its meadows singing and rambling.

Years later, I was able to hike in the northwest.

I could stroll with my lover and feel my best.

When I’m old, let me loose in the forest to rest.
