A Missing Link

She always feels a little lost  

As if her identity is incomplete,

Was there a missing link 

At the beginning of her life

Though she has loving adoptive parents 

Not knowing her birth mother and father

She feels her soul is an orphan

And her heart always quests for an answer

She has many thoughts

About why she was abandoned at birth

But none of these ideas

Brings her peace and forgiveness

The missing part is an imperfection 

In her self-image 

Yet sometimes she is afraid 

That she may find out  

Her birth parents

Led a tainted life
