A Dark Room

perhaps you are bewildered just knowing that it will never work

beyond the lamplight lingers the shadows of our broken hearts

more than before the door and closer to the opened windows

come to this place erase what was and what will never be

all even though remembering every dream in your head

if the stuff I said without caution and caring

thinking of our loving years together forever

now nothing but tears for yourself and if

there is something learned as it began

you were escaping this nightmare

before my flight away from you

leaving only space in between

me and your tight staring

right at my loving gaze

as the light goes out
