Unwelcome Intrusion

Gold curtains drawn

Across star lit sky

Real world distanced

Blink of an eye

Blue velvet sofa

Bathed in candlelight

Shabby chic ambience

Cosy sight

He stands in doorway

Fresh from shower

Watches her potter

Delay departure hour

Usual routine

Yet not quite the same

Talk, instead of kisses,

Her focused aim

Few snatched hours,

Champagne on ice,

Imported luxury chocolates,

No longer worth the price

Asks for commitment

Weary of insecure position

He sighs, turns his back

Reality's unwelcome intrusion
