The Overwhelming Smell

"Well Does It Smell Good?" Momma's Dinner!

————

Late afternoon turned into early evening very quickly and young Paulie made it home right before the sunlight turned its duties over to the moonshine.

“I hope you did not stop and have a bite with the girls?” Momma greeted him with a motherly inquiry.

With study books comfortably hiding inside a high school knapsack Paulie quietly snuck through the kitchen, “where are you going?” A second investigative question was poised,

“My room I have homework,”

“Dinner will be soon,”

Earlier in the day Princess Lida and Becky Sue were testing a new perfume on the market for only a few days, “I really like this one,” Becky Sue told the royal daughter,

“My sample is better,” replied Princess Lida, seeing Paulie walk down the hallway.

“I am hungry,” Becky Sue changed the subject,

“I do not have any money. Do you?” Princess Lida added,

“Here I have an idea the aristocrat has enough in his deep pockets for a pizza,” Becky Sue plotted spraying the fragrance on her neck.

When Paulie arrived to give a daily afternoon greeting the two giggled inviting him for an Italian snack. Being overwhelmed by the scent Paulie agreed and the three were soon inside the dining establishment.

After one large pie Paulie still under the sweet-smelling spell a friendly reminder stated, “do not forget to tip the nice waitress,” Becky Sue encouraged.

Closing the chapter in the history text Paulie overheard Momma, “time for dinner!” Taking the cue Paulie headed toward the stove, “what is that over whelming smell?” Momma interjected another curious interest making Poppa peer up from the paper, “did you spend today kissing girls?”

“No Momma,” Paulie answered with a gigantic spoon in hand, “it’s your pasta.”

“He’s right, Momma,” Poppa agreed.
