The Friendly Conversation

After telling Paulie, Becky Sue and Princess Lida about his saddest event, Poppa goes to the land of crosses to reflect upon his last day as a bachelor

After the sensitive retelling presentation about Poppa’s saddest day, Becky Sue and Paulie continued a friendly conversation at the picnic table for a couple more hours. During the sunset period the two aired out feelings, strengthening their relationship, resulting in laughter interruption.

Later Poppa quietly slipped away leaving Momma handling the dishes, harnessing the zebra with the buggy tack was his plan, figuring out a twilight trip may bring answers. Softly using the long crop Poppa confronted the border and the cross-fortress glistening in the moonlight.

“I did not go out partying with the guys on the last day of my bachelor era,” Poppa remembered, “I came here knowing the decision I made for love challenged your wishes.”

Requesting the zebra to halt, Poppa climbed out, leaving the driver’s seat looking for direction and proceeded down the path where a spiritual blockade dead end had more power than any wall.

Roman Catholic relics surrounded Poppa encouraging him to honestly unleash his feelings, “I did not want a life where I martyred, instead I chose a secure environment where finance investments successes allowed us independence and freedom.”

Staring down the artistic torture symbol, he reminded himself what contributions were made during his wealthy lifestyle, “Despite our community not having a monarchy for seven centuries I ensured the other side’s royal family had the proper housing, I have stayed humble making the villagers safety and protection a priority.”

Stepping away realizing he found closure Poppa returned to the zebra, patting the four-legged transportation before commandeering the pilot’s seat. Letting the zebra know, he felt much better, the pair headed home. Upon arrival Poppa saw the one light shine down on his son and his friend engaging pleasantly.

Seeing Paulie giving Becky Sue a good night hug, Poppa promptly finished unhitching the zebra and escorted him inside the barn.

“Son,” Poppa called, and Paulie turned around, standing on the porch top wooden step, “wait I want to talk to you.”

Not moving a muscle Paulie waited, “Where were you?” Paulie asked first.

“Having a friendly conversation at the border,”

“You met somebody from the other side?” Paulie inquired.

“No, I was at the crosses,”

“Oh,” Paulie chuckled, “Becky Sue and I also were having a friendly conversation.”

“I noticed,” Poppa smiled.

“Are you on the same page?”

“Yeah Poppa,” his son replied, “we support each other as friends.”

“Good,”

“What about you and the crosses?”

“I came away with some nice reflective thoughts,” Poppa reported.

“Poppa,” Paulie expressed, “I wanted you to understand, tonight was not Princess Lida’s last day here at our barn.”

“I know,” Poppa opened the screen door, “Prince Paulie.”

Lurking in the dark Momma shouted, “Poppa, where have you been?”

“Just like Paulie having a friendly conversation,” he answered and the three retired for the night.
