The Conduit
/A Letter To The Reader
What's written are the historical records of the case of Luminary-hybrids vs Luminaries. Of course the Conduits came to the aid of the hybrids first. The Lycans came later.
One must note the difference between what a Luminary- hybrid is and what a true-blooded Luminaries are. For all-purposes a Luminary is in fact vampires. This may or may not come as a surprise to the reader, and to some it may come, as a complete mystery.
If by chance that you are new to the brotherhood of Conduits, I welcome you with open arms. It is my greatest joy and happiness that you have decided to read many adventures that came over the years.
If you are a new Conduit then please note the following— each book takes place in different parts of the world and some may have happened in your own backyard without your knowledge. That being said this event happened in New York. As I said earlier— Luminaries are vampires. But what is a Luminary-hybrid?
The word didn't appear in the Conduit lexicon until the early 1980's. The definition was seldomly known then. It wasn't until the 2020's that the word became readily available. It’s thanks to Bradley for discovering the true nature of the hybrids.
Once a Conduit is turned, they possess the abilities of what makes a vampire a vampire. But they possess more than what the regular vampire possesses. “They," meaning Conduits keep the Conduit gifts but are enhanced by the vampiric gene.
The Conduit gifts are as follows: hearing, seeing, and communicating with the deceased. Some Conduits may have pyrokinetic powers (i.e. starting fires with mind) or the ability to move and bend objects with mind) telekinetic. Some might be empathic (the ability to feel a person’s feelings. In some cases, an empath may pick-up an emotion of said person weeks in advance before said person knows of the emotion.) There was a case study on this phenomenon back in the late 70’s. The word Conduit wasn’t known during this time, but a case showed up in Texas. A woman walked by a man and she burst into hysterical crying. When the man asked the poor woman why she started to cry. She told him someone from his family will die. Two weeks later the man’s mother fell ill and died.
Note: some empaths may or may not see the event unfold in their own mind. Unfortunately, the names of these people were never obtained. And it’s been my own opinion that “she” in the story might have been the very first documented Conduit.
It’s impossible for me to write all of the gifts of the Conduit, but it bears noting that under extreme stress one could in fact develop a subclass of gifts. For more please read the accounts of Bradley.
The story of New York is a baffling one, which I’ve personally dubbed it as “The Curious Case of New York.” Now let's talk about other things that go bump in the night. And this will bring us to Lycans (λυκάνθρωπος). There is a belief that Lycans and werewolves are indeed different, and some say there are one of the same. As I write this, the accounts of such creatures are wrong. The line of werewolves comes from the line of Saint Chirstopher. It is said that God made these remarkable beasts as guardians of the paranormal. It’s been my opinion that Lycans and werewolves are one of the same. Let's take werewolves from England vs Lycans from Grace. It is said that (Lycanthropy) or Lycans are smarter than werewolves during transformation. Whereas Werewolves have little to zero control after transformation. I find this erroneous. I believe they are one in the same with different names. All knowledge of werewolves comes from superstition without knowledge. Example: the metamorphosis happens during the full moon? It is what stuff of legends are made of. From my personal studies, I found the “metamorphosis” is done at the moments before battle. In other words, it’s done when it’s completely necessary. Like being attacked. However, the supernatural abilities are functional during human form. (To learn more about this, please refer to Jason at the Speakeasy Bar.)
I hope that you enjoy this letter and please keep re-reading this book as these books update themselves with the magic of the she-wolves.
The first interview is on Old Blind Joe. I’ve talked with him about the changes that he faced, when a Luminary came and turned him. He’s one of the hybrid-Luminaries.
I’ll end this letter with great thanks and well wishes. I hope to the youngest of the Conduit brotherhood that this book gives you light, in otherwise a dark period of your life. Just like all things, there is always hope and light in all of our journeys.
This book isn’t to solve what happened in New York, but it should shine a light of the events of what happened.
Take Care,
—Monk—
