Suffering in Solitude
/"Suffering in Solitude" is a poem about how one hides his true feelings and emotions from others.
Like those moments when the silence of being alone creates a pain no one understands.
————
She sits alone in a crowd
giggling and laughing,
pretending all is fine,
not letting anyone close enough
to sense the feelings,
she’s buried deep.
When the rooms in the house feel empty
and the silence begins to creak,
she feels lost at sea
with no way of returning to shore.
She watches as time spins,
leaving her behind
like dust in the shadows,
making her wish
she could time travel.
She makes the loneliness fade a bit,
as she taps her fingers on the keyboard
connecting with others far away,
but no one is aware
of the pain within her soul.
