Solace

I recall your fingers

Stroking my face

Arms drawing me

Into a gentle embrace

My head held tight

Against strong chest

Nerve endings in thrall

As you caressed,

My mind, body, spirit

And acknowledged fears

Whispered endearments

Tenderly wiped tears

Awaited perfect moment

To oust self pity from burrow

Make me laugh at myself

Equlibrate ego

Oh, your steadfast love,

Miss its physical security

But continue to find solace

In its comforting memory
