Paving For Growth

Growth and progress has come to the area when new paved roadways planned will make Princess Lida's Castle along with the Land of Crosses easily accessible.

For the longest time Poppa’s homeland featured one well maintained trail, going from the village towards the border, passing the mysterious mansion which he financed as a gift to the royal family. Directions were never really needed, you either went that way or the other, simple mapped geography accomplished the task.

“We need progress and growth,” a villager complained a few weeks ago during a council meeting instigating talk about paving roadways to the Land of Crosses and Princess Lida’s Castle.

Sitting at the kitchen table Poppa reviewed the blue print, when Paulie and his two companions entered, “how was your day at school?”

“Same old same old,” Paulie responded as Becky Sue and Princess Lida cleaned off their shoes from the dusty walk.

“Halfway home,” Princess Lida announced.

“How much more do you need to hike?” Poppa strategically asked.

“I cut through the woods or take the long field route,” Princess Lida answered.

“What about you Becky Sue? How do you get home?”

“I return to the Main Road, I hitch a ride back and entertain the tourists visiting the Land of Crosses,”

“They don’t feed you, do they?” Paulie sarcastically inquired.

“No, Momma does,” Becky Sue retaliated, “why do you ask?”

Letting the blue prints rest on the table Poppa lifted his head, “they want two paved roads, one to go to the Land of the Crosses and the other to Princess Lida’s castle.”

“Are they going to tear down the woods?” Princess Lida started panicking.

Laughing Poppa calmed her down, “No, just a scenic path through the field where people can pause and take pictures,”

“It’s called progress,” Paulie mentioned.

“Growth,” Becky Sue, the humble gypsy realistically added knowing tourist attention would shine on Princess Lida’s affordable monarch housing.

Intently Poppa listened concluding his son was right about progress and growth as Becky Sue described it, would be a community benefit. Not only would it make adventurous journeys easier, but the people would investigate the area bringing stranger’s interest.

Later that evening Poppa presented his opinions and received neighbor’s approval, giving the construction company a green light. After enduring inconvenience activity, the restoration project finished, and a perched Princess Lida monitored incoming traffic.

Holding a tea cup, sitting on the balcony, she made the daily observation a tradition, watching the guests lured by the Land of the Crosses make a detour due to real castle curiosity.

“I hope they visit the gift shoppe downstairs,” Princess Lida put down the binoculars, “my bank account needs a little growth too.”
