Life's Sprouting Plants

Poppa tends to sprouting issues

Winter retreated, prepared to exercise departure plans ending its short seasonal residency, as Poppa rested peacefully on the porch exhausted from accomplishing morning chores. Glancing towards the right, the former royal turned aristocrat, honestly stared down a plant, sprouting,

“Buried the seed a week ago and look at you now,” Poppa commented.

“Did you deliver flowers down to the village florist?” An invisible scream questioned.

“No, Momma, I wanted them to mature another day,”

“That’s good; they are all going through Mother Nature’s growing spurt, and twenty-four hours from now,” the unseen voice agreed.

Standing up, slowly walking over softly touching the youthful branches, “tomorrow, you will be in the sun, displayed publicly, luring new patrons into a business,” Poppa instructed when Paulie emerged carrying a knapsack filled with books.

“Son, where are you going? With all that baggage?”

“To my bedroom,” Paulie answered, “spend some time studying.”

“Workout using those knowledgeable weights, Paulie, “Poppa paused, “great idea, it's good for you and very healthy.”

When things returned silent, Momma broke the stillness, “brought you coffee,”

“Thank you Momma,” Poppa acknowledged.

“Those educators sure are planting seeds in Paulie,” Momma spoke.

“And he will sprout to be a wise man,” Poppa added.

A few hours passed and Poppa loitered around the sleeping quarters. Hearing a single conversation minus another person, Poppa ventured off towards the refrigerator where he retrieved a water bottle.

“That is not true, Princess Lida!” Poppa listened, then made a move.

“Cool down, Paulie, here I just wanted to bring a drink, hoping my little sprout’s diplomatic mind blooms, opening innocent buddy ears, creating beautiful dialogue presentations,” advised Poppa.
