Incomprehensible Silence

I do not understand

the words you speak

because I keep hearing

the birds singing

and that gives me peace

I fail to hear

your rumbling thoughts,

that non-tender voice of yours

because the sound of the distant waves

is more appealing

so pleasant to the ears

are you leaving?

perhaps, probably-

I never dared to speak nor ask

fear enveloped my being

whenever you open your mouth

all my senses black out

the rain had started a dance

tranced in a glorious melody

with the green blades of grass

you opened your mouth once more

and all your words-

demeaning to my soul

to describe them at the very least

particularly devoid of softness

tenderness, gone

no- none at all

then I see the fireflies

racing under the trees

taking shelter from rain and cold wind

are you even listening?, you ask me

your voiced echoed

redundantly damning to my ears

I'm already too numb to feel

and I didn't notice

when you disappeared

And I- just standing here,

feet planted, covered in soil

waited until the earth

purified my sorrows

Watching a thousand sunrise

by the horizon

counting decades after decades

of passing time

until finally-

when I have entirely withered

that my soul bloomed

into a field of flowers

purple, red, yellow

in endless rows

of incomprehensible silence

and sparks of magnificence

I still am though-

lost in the forest

still learning, nurturing

this garden of forgiveness.
