Frangipani

Searing summer heat,

Long train journeys to

Grandma's home far away,

Sweetmeats to eat.

Lazy afternoons spent,

With cousins looking for mischief

Near the well banned,

Play or be played for

A trick. Complain to mommy

After a tiff.

After dinner stories

Up on the rooftop

Under the stars.

Clear, after summer showers

The fragrance of Frangipani flowers,

Grandma's soft breath.

Childhood Days past

Bustle replaced Idyll

A Lifetime evolved,

Grandma's soul endures time

Among the flowers in my garden.

The fragrance of Frangipani flowers,

Grandma's soft breath.
