Eggshells

No one should have to live in fear.

————

Friday night

eggshells.

The slow tick of the

clock

eggshells.

Outside drunken mutterings

eggshells.

The doorbell rings

eggshells.

Press the button,

let him in

eggshells.

The cat escapes and

hides,

but for me, there is no

shelter from his tongue.

Eggshells

my feet bleed

the yolk runs.

But to him, it is part of the fun.

If you ever find yourself walking

on eggshells, here is my advice.

Leave, and don't think twice.

You can buy more eggs, but

you can never buy back your

life.
