Eerie Sounds Of The Season

Princess Lida Learns About The Eerie Sounds Of The Season

————

Holiday warmth flickered as the enclosed fireplace setting sent friendly, peaceful messages, dancing and singing enthusiastic tunes. Paulie put the final gift-wrapping details on preparing another kind gesture token for formal presentation, underneath the festive decorated tree.

"Why do you still have Halloween candy?" Princess Lida questioned, carefully approaching the plastic pumpkin holder, realizing the contents were not tempting sweets, instead Diesel energy bars occupied the colorful bins.

"For visitors," Paulie responded, "who come by the door."

"Visitors?"

Suddenly, the cottage mansion's front door rendered pulsating knocking sounds, encouraging Paulie to answer. Magically appearing, historically costumed neighbors, humming before serenading the pair, staging simple seasonal carol ballads that would melt any angry heart.

"That was a surprise, Prince Paulie," Princess Lida commentated watching the maturing individual distribute Diesel energy bars, "but do you think this is a trick or treat?"

"It's to give them strength," Paulie clarified.

Weeks later, snow blanketed the border area, transitioning the forestry scene into a winter wonderland despite depressed deadly baron features, haunting the bitter cold landscape. Since the declining temperatures dictated indoor activity, Princess Lida sat quietly sipping soup pondering the eerie similarities between two year ending traditions where uninvited strangers disturb homes during the night.

"Father, Prince Paulie's village subjects go from masking themselves one minute to being a choir army the next, expecting rewards,"

"That is a very interesting observation," the King responded.

"Frankly, I think it's eerie," Princess Lida honestly spoke.

"How so? Joy and happiness evolve when these community greetings happen."

Shivering Princess Lida responded, "we should huddle close to each other, fear the heavenly chills and patiently wait until nature gives us motherly hugs,"

"Princess," the King scolded.

Next morning, Princess Lida armed herself, wearing fashionable coats designed to keep the wearer comfortable. Walking down the hiking trail, broken tree twig branches crackled, easily snapping while leaves were no longer making their presence

"Everything is so spooky and ghostly," the growing royal thought when a group off in the distance entertained themselves performing acapella numbers, "but there they are, not hiding, bringing smiling attitudes through entertainment."

Quickly, turning around, the King emerged; "Father," Princess Lida exclaimed.

"Now you know how one defeats evil, my dear," the King proclaimed, "you use the talent God gave you and add a little creativity."

"Is this a test?" Princess Lida quizzed.

"Yes, my child and eerie one at that," the King positively acknowledged.
