The Zebra Confessional

The Zebra listens to the kids confessions

————

A powerful friendship triangle foundation’s castle wall can be formed indestructible, frustrating a deceptive invading army’s strategy.

As the sun set, Paulie performed his zebra tending chores, “I do not get it,” he sounded off, “I have no idea how the heated argument began.”

Perked ears, the zebra enjoyed the stall room service while listening to the soap opera script featuring debatable controversial pelican trivia, discussed during class.

“First off I am kind to everyone, Becky Sue is not only a villager but a gypsy as for Princess Lida she is trying to protect her family and they are our friends,” he explained to the four-legged striped referee.

Grateful for the clean shavings and fresh water, the zebra listened hearing Paulie’s diplomatic presentation until the monologue concluded, “zebra I have to get back to my room, my homework is calling.”

Peaceful quiet returned but the tranquil setting abruptly changed when Becky Sue stormed into the barn grabbing a chair. Sitting in front of the zebra she spilled her thoughts, “I did it, okay, it was me.”

As the zebra stared into the village gypsy’s eyes she continued, “but I will remind you royal aristocrats she is a welcome guest in my village, she is from the other side, and her crown status does not make her right, but I will confess.”

Pulling sugar squares from her pocket she gave the treat to the zebra along with a loving pat, “thank you zebra I feel better now.”

When the barn found itself, silent, entertained by crickets, the zebra relished the shining moonlight. Suddenly, the door swung open, and Princess Lida marched towards the empty seat, left when the peasant departed, “Okay I did it, I am sorry,” she pleaded, “but I will remind you she is not good enough for Prince Paulie, she is a villager,” Princess Lida paused, “and a gypsy. I will confess to the horrendous act!”

Reaching for the carrot resting inside the royals pocket, the zebra acted surprised accepting the evening snack. “Thank you for listening zebra, I am glad I got everything off my chest. “

When the next day arrived, Paulie placed his knapsack on the bench before completing the zebra’s morning chores, “did the girls visit?” Affirmatively shaking the head, the zebra answered, “did they confess?” Paulie followed up and the zebra repeated the positive motion, “did they say exactly what they were confessing to?” That is when the zebra politely stated, “no”.

An hour later Paulie stood near his locker spotting Becky Sue and Princess Lida cheerfully stroll bye.

“Ready for class?” The pair asked.

Observing the smiles Paulie realized the power behind a confession and how it can make relationships stronger.
