New Birth

Finding my spiritual path

————

She slumped back against the door, which pushed it shut.

“Oh what a fortnight” she thought. “I had to go through with my birthday party even though I had lost interest in it. It had been organised for months. It would have been too hard to cancel”. She turned 40.

She sat with her back against the door reflecting on the past fortnight. ‘I felt as though I was saying goodbye to everyone I've met. Some people I hadn't seen for ages crossed my path”, she murmured out loud, “and what a crowd”.

She had just finished a meditation course which filled her with ore. It had answered so many of her questions, even some she didn't realise she had. This course had questioned every belief system she had in place. She realised that none of them really supported her. These new belief systems gave her so much comfort in a very short space of time.

To be vegetarian was a plus as she always wanted to be, but society did frown on vegetarians in the 1970s. Alcohol was never a big deal for her so to stop drinking wasn't an issue and she didn't smoke so that too wasn't a big deal.

She felt that her 40th birthday was the last day of her physical birth as she implemented the lifestyle choice of this meditation practice which was a spiritual birth.
