Some feelings last longer than others...

People hate pain; loathe its existence in this world
They wish Pandora hadn’t opened that box
Or Eve hadn’t eaten that apple
After all, didn’t curiosity kill the cat?
But enough of that.
I welcome Pain, he is no stranger
He visits all the time which leaves no room for Anger
He surprises me sometimes and JUMPS out at me
Chasing me into choke holds, tag-teaming me with Agony
After them, in waltzes Sorrow all cool and nonchalant
Joy lingering behind him, her presence serves to haunt
Peace becoming frustrated decides to up and leave
Storming out the house accidentally dropping keys
Misery, loving the company, is slick and picks them up
Takes a sip of salty tears then finishes her cup
And what do you know? It’s just my luck
Laughter bids me farewell and hops in his truck
Love is a bit more patient but by now she’s had enough
Her distaste replaced by Hate whose attitude is tough
Alas! No one’s noticed but in comes the one and only!
All sluggish and weary, last but not least, its Lonely!
They said they’re going to be staying for a while,
And with all the strength I could, I muster up a smile
“Sure,” I say. I really don’t mind anyway…
Because Happiness is quick to leave but Pain is here to stay
