Grey Thoughts

Word Canvas

It’s a view I never tire of,

looking out into the wood

Serene and yet dynamic,

spurring thoughts I wish I could

Relate in such a manner:

painted scenes in vivid tones

Touching an emotional nerve

and felt within the bones.

Seeking to communicate

by new or odd conventions

An obvious attempt to try

conveying my intentions.

And yet I struggle deeply

for the proper words to use

Trying for some clarity

that won’t cause to confuse

Each word has its own color,

it’s so very hard to pick

Perhaps a leaf is verdigris,

burnt umber for a stick

And now to take chromatic words

and brush them on a page

In such a way to paint the mind

in pictures that don’t age.
