Grey Thoughts

Winter Chill

He returned to me like a storm cloud
Carried on an errant breeze
Defiant, cold, and blustery
Yet I was quite at ease
He'd left at the first whisper of spring
Returned with the winter snows
Every year I wondered
Where is it that he goes

It never crossed my mind
In all the time he was away
That he would miss me so much
And think of me everyday
He thought I would be angry
But stil, put up a mighty front
So glad I was for his return
My greeting held no affront

I'd missed our times to cuddle
When he'd made the air feel chilled
Now, to feel his crisp presence
I was nothing short of thrilled
He said he wanted me to have
The best he had to give
So I bundled up and he hugged me
close
His embrace was tenderly seductive
