Treasure Box
Upon worn wooden shelf
A pewter box, shut tight
Containing hopes and dreams
Now dimming, but once bright
Unrealized, put away
My reach exceeding grasp
Though sometimes I reflect
Unlock the rusted hasp
And feel what might have been
Of treasures lost to time
And yet, they’re with me still
Though small and sparse, they’re mine
And viewed, replaced within
Lid closed, box put away
Until said memories warm
My heart, another day
