Too Young
He was only three
It was not his choice but he had no choice
To cross the sea with his parents
Searching for a better life
On an unknown land without any promise
And he was too young to know the risk
Didn't know what was lurking ahead
But they had to try any possible way
As their homeland was uninhabitable
Due to endless turmoil
And he was too young to question why always wars
Drifting on the sea their boat capsized
When battered by a furious storm
Too huge a challenge for such a little boy
His weak outcry was soon muffled
As salt water rushed into his mouth and nose
And he was too young to fight death
The temperamental waves turned calm
Gently rocked his floating body ashore
Realization of his dream was achieved
Ironically when he was laid on the beach
Leaving his soul behind in the sea
This new land entrusted with their hopes
Could only serve as his burial site
And he died too young to understand life
