The Owl Of...

The Owl Of My Heart

There's an owl in my heart, he comes out at night.

He peaks through the blinds, makes sure noone's in sight.

He claws on the walls wanting to be let out.

His throat is dry from the riverbed's drought.

His howl is so loud I can hardly sleep.

Lonely he flies in the forrest deep.

Flapping his wings under starlit skies.

Over oceans, creeks and streams run dry.

I can't hide from him when he inside me cries. Yellow eyes pierces through every innocent lie.

During daylight hours, he can be subdued.

But when the night closes in, there is no refuge.
