The Bionic Angel

Wanting to build a winning image the village school district lures the All Around Achiever to attend their school and Prince Paulie as Princess Lida refers to her learns all her biographical statistics

————

Earlier in the school year the physical education department wanted a winning image and they decided to recruit a new student by luring their parents into a ‘cannot say no real estate professional opportunity deal’.

Apparently the Munroes had only one daughter, Jamie, featuring amazing athletic talent and rivaled Achilles in perfection. Deemed the All-Around Achiever, Jamie easily lettered in three sports only by showing up. Besides the competitive attitude, whether it was in Field Hockey, Gymnastics or Softball, the newcomer excelled in the extracurricular activities that the village district offered to every interested applicant.

One afternoon during class, Jamie raised her hand and made a comment about communities combating each other and sport. This classroom contribution blew away aristocratic Paulie and the other two angles in the friendly tripod, Princess Lida and Becky Sue started to see a change in their adolescent compatriot.

Throughout the next few months, he started to read the newspaper and memorized Jamie Munroes biography statistics.

Soon the days got longer, and Prince Paulie, as Princess Lida referred to him, started making appearances and got to know another whole community that his family was funding.

“You know there are five different Soft Ball pitches Poppa,” Paulie announced after sitting down to supper, “fastball, change up, curve ball, drop ball and rise ball.”

“What’s softball?” Momma asked.

“It’s baseball with a softer bigger ball,” Poppa answered.

“And they pitch underhand,” Paulie added

“Oh,” Momma was taken back, “and you know this,”

“Jamie Munroe is great at it,” Paulie took a bite into the meatloaf on his plate, “they nicknamed her ‘Queen of the Diamond’”

“A royal,” Momma smirked.

“Yeah, and she is smart,” Paulie informed, “she made a comment once about rival communities settling disputes in athletics, it was awesome.”

This news made Momma and Poppa look at each other, “just remember your studies,” Poppa reminded, “You do not want to get spring fever,” Momma added.

Later that evening while relaxing in bed Momma laughed, “Paulie was funny, I think he is falling in love.”

“Well, Momma, I know who she is, and besides being pretty, smart and talented, she knows her way around the peace process.”

“And she is Queen of the Diamonds, they say,”

“Do you mind if I turn the channel to that show ‘Bionic Angel’?”

“Why are you falling in love with the bionic angel?”

“Kelly Summers? No, relax, she is not aristocratic enough for me. But must admit tough as nails,” Poppa clicked the remote before turning out the light.
