Tender Yesterday
Childhood memories
A warm embrace
Despite leaving
A bittersweet trace
Beloved parents
Gone long ago
Misses them deeply
Never ending sorrow
Old house demolished
Gave way to a high rise
Each time he walks past
Unshed tears in his eyes
Lavender scented sheets
Rattling sash windows
Security of a loving home
In each, every shadow
Mama in the kitchen
Busy over the stove
Papa setting the table
In its cosy alcove
Tender yesterday
Its ambient glow
Continues to comfort
During adult highs, lows
