Grey Thoughts

Struggle

They tell me to treasure life

How can I when I see

The rainbow turns into a dark belt

Across the sky like a hanging rope

The sun blocked by a raven shroud

No longer shines

I hear birdsongs in weeping tones

Like a funeral dirge

The gateway to hope

Is slammed shut

My mind becomes a prisoner

The world a smothering cell

People around me are jailors

Watching me with silent scorn

Time becomes unbearable

I want to escape to a place

Where my senses can be numbed

My thought vanishes

My spirit freed
