How This Virus Rattles Our Society

Our society lush and strong

Constantly facing all kinds of challenges

Crime, racism, pollution

Political division, natural disasters

Wounded and scarred at times

Holds on and strides forward

With its vibe unwavering

Now this invisible virus Covid

The smallest but not the least

Has been trampling the world for

More than two years

It rattles our society tree brutally

Casualties falling like autumn leaves

Exceeding the sum of World War, I and II

Our normal lives are disrupted

Forced to live in isolation bubbles

To avoid direct social contacts

As if we all carry hidden weapons

We are compelled to make changes

To circumvent the virus

By distant learning

Working from home

Besides sickness and loss of life

The virus causes mayhem in the society

Job loss, workforce shortage

Disrupted supply chain

Economic slowdown

It entices suppressed human natures

Causing toilet paper brawls

Flouting safety guidelines

Disregarding other’s well-being

Still our society endures the pandemic

As the majority are doing their share

To halt the spread of the disease

Many unsung heroes risk their lives

To serve in the frontlines

Diligent research scientists

Race to find solutions

While the virus continues to mutate
