Holiday Love...
Holiday Love: A Coffee Date
It’s said
and to a fault
it’s done
what’s done, we did
on Christmas Eve.
I checked my watch
as my youthful years faded
and smoked a cigarette.
I moved my eyes around
the living room window.
White lacy flakes
dance through the atmosphere
accumulating a glow.
I slipped over slick streets
laced with fairy lust,
falling fast into
a crush;
eyes searching for truth
at a coffee date.
A hazelnut espresso
led to sugar in Ella’s apartment.
growing up, Santa missed my house
but he had me unwrap this woman,
a surprise, if any there were,
I was in her bed.
It made up for the bike
mom couldn’t afford.
I used Ella’s seduction
as wheels to train.
We exchanged our love
as gifts meant to last.
A surprise, if any angels spoke of.
But my fault led to a wife.
