Heard Your Soul Fly
I held your hand
As life ebbed away
Spoke of our past
Rose tinged yesterday
Eyes fixed on mine
Fingers weak
Listened with a smile
Unable to speak
I moistened your lips
Stroked your forehead
Gently climbed onto
The clinical hospital bed
Wrapped my arms
Around your ravaged body
Spooned for the last time
Heard your soul fly
