Grey Thoughts

Fading Light

I stand trapped between the person I once was, and the person I am to become. I hold on tightly, as she slowly fades, soon to vanish entirely. I cherish every last bit that remains, already mourning her loss. I am mindful that I must let go, but her memory is still so very much alive in me. I long to go back, to feel her light up my soul with her warmth and her sparkle. Who am I without her? I linger between the past and the future, trapped in myself, holding onto her last spark, terrified of the day her light goes out and I am alone, the old woman that is left of me.
