Escaping Car...
Escaping Car-Incidental Death
Yes, this a real life story. My first New Year's night shift in my professional life. Good to listen to our inside instinct, when it says "No".
————
I gave an oath – the Hippocratic one.
Neurosurgery is not a lot please,
But I chose it for life.
Graduating with silver medal
And 5 days later, my career began.
New Year Eve’s party was fan,
But I had to be on night-shift duty.
So, I was sober and needed to run.
My friends were kind and
Generously offered me a ride.
It was snowing, there was a frost.
Somewhat, my instinct, told me
“No, oh no, no, no!” and
I walked to the place in the cold.
In fact, it was a pleasure to rush in the snow.
The night was heavy – emergency teams,
Sounds of screaming sirens;
Ambulances gathered many people
Crashed after so many cheerful drinks.
In short, it was a night of disasters.
And just on the end in this “unique”
New Year’s shift, my boss came.
“Wash your hands, don’t go away,
Joined the new surgical team.
It’s not going to be easy.
We’ll be very busy this time...”
When I looked under the lights,
I recognized my friends
Who offered me ride in this New Year’s night.
I realized, that I just escaped
A car-incidental death.
