Grey Thoughts

Ephemeral

In this poem I have expressed how moments and people in life do not last for long. Time flies and life goes on.. (I have also expressed ephemerality of life)

————

Travelling in the present,

Tired of the past,

Terrified about the future,

And time, flies...

I lay awake in my bed,

My eyes shut,

Many thoughts in my head.

Every minute of life

Comes and goes,

Quick on its toes.

My mind rewinds,

Talks of all highs and lows,

Great distresses and woes.

My fingers rub my eyes,

My lips part to let out a yawn,

My feet touch the cold floor,

My heart walks out to the lawn.

The winds embrace me,

The trees sway in welcome,

The birds chirp in chorus,

The sun beams with joy,

Kites tickle the sky,

Clouds fluff with laughter,

Squirrels dance on the green grass,

And butterflies clap in awe.

I take a deep breath.

The smell of mud and fresh air replace distress with calm.

My cheeks bloom with a smile, blissful after long.

I follow the trail of the sun,

My hands run through the flowering bushes, the leaves kiss my palm.

A raven flies above me,

And I run following it.

I feel my heart beat in my ears.

It settles on a rock, alongside a river.

I stop, a little away from the raven.

The evening winds make its feathers flutter as it takes a sip from the river.

I do the same.

The fresh water made me alive from within,

Its every droplet blessed my soul.

The sky has a faint crimson patch spreading underneath a cluster of clouds.

The crickets weave a night song.

As the sky grows darker and darker, I feel my thoughts race

As if trying to chase the twilight, asking it to stay a little longer.

The moon now takes over-

A cresent moon,

Like a smile in the sky.

The stars brighten and dim, matching my breaths.

There's stillness around,

But my mind chatters on.

Chatters on about how everything has its time,

Bound to come, never to stay.
